Moments of Recognition

Our Parting Gift

In 2025, during my final year as CCA President, we took on a new and unfamiliar challenge: the First LEGO League. It was our school’s first time participating, so we had no reference point and had to learn everything from scratch. Understanding the rules, forming strategies, and adapting to LEGO-based coding—all within a short timeframe—was tough, especially as we neared our stepping-down period. But we embraced the challenge together.

Debugging our code

We continued working hard, even after exams. My CCA mates were exhausted, staying late to fix their robots. Many felt it wasn’t worth the effort, convinced we had no chance of winning. Seeing their spirits drop was difficult—this was our competition, and I knew I had to step up.

I spoke to each member individually, listening to their concerns and finding ways to ease their burden. Slowly, I saw their motivation return—the fire was back. As the competition approached, I gave one final speech, reminding them that this was our last chance to win for our CCA. I told them how proud I was of their dedication—and that no matter the outcome, we had already achieved something great together.

We gave our best during the robot game, where our robot had to complete as many tasks as possible. The first few runs didn’t go as planned, and team morale dipped—but we supported each other and stayed focused. On our final attempt, we achieved our highest score, and that recovery lifted our spirits. Although we didn’t win, we were proud to have competed and grown through the experience.

It wasn’t over yet—two presentation segments remained. We confidently shared our solution to help marine biologists: an Automatic Trash Collecting Robot(ATCR). The judge was so impressed, they asked for a photo with us! Later, we passionately presented our robot design process, which earned us both the Innovation Award and Overall Champion for Robot Design.

After the event, our team was honoured with the opportunity to share our competition journey and success on stage in front of the entire school. It was a meaningful moment that allowed me to publicly acknowledge the collective effort and dedication of my teammates, as well as the invaluable guidance and encouragement from our teachers. I felt proud to represent our shared achievement and grateful for the chance to express my appreciation to the school for its continuous support, which played a significant role in our growth and success.

Speech during Assembly

I'm incredibly proud to have led my team to victory and grateful for everyone’s effort. This experience taught me the value of perseverance and the importance of approaching problems from different angles. Working with my teammates was a joy, and I learned that leadership isn’t about being above others—it’s about being alongside them. A leader may have a louder voice, but at the end of the day, we are all part of the same team.
